Sold as a pair, their classic industrial shapes would display well on a gentleman’s library shelf or side table and could also serve as distinctive doorstops.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCast iron shoe forms of this type were used in the US and Europe by cobblers, shoemakers, and repairmen when shaping, repairing, or finishing footwear. A shoe was fitted over the iron form, giving the worker a firm internal support for hammering, stitching, tacking, or reshaping leather. Socket openings at heel ends remain intact, though associated stands or mounting posts are no longer present. Both forms remain solid, heavy, and structurally sound, with no cracks, breaks, repairs, or active flaking rust noted.
