1930s Silver-Plated Ocean Liner Trophy from T.S.S. Andalucia Star | Vintage Blue Star Line Memorabilia

For the man of luxury … a handsome 1930s silver-plated trophy, awarded aboard the T.S.S. Andalucia Star, a British passenger liner operated by the Blue Star Line from 1929 to 1942.  Standing 5 inches tall, the cup features a period wooden plinth and an enameled badge bearing the ship’s name and the distinctive red, white, and blue flag of the Blue Star Line. In superb vintage condition, it’s a distinctive memento from the golden age of ocean travel and would make a memorable gift for the traveler or maritime enthusiast.

Built by Cammell Laird of Birkenhead, the Andalucia entered service in 1927, carrying first-class passengers between Britain and South America. Renamed Andalucia Star in 1929, she accommodated 180 passengers and offered an extensive program of onboard entertainment, including deck tennis, cricket, bridge tournaments, and mock horse races, for which silver-plated trophies like ours were presented.  The ship's distinguished career ended tragically on October 6, 1942, when she was torpedoed and sunk by a German U-boat off the coast of West Africa.

Condition notes: Excellent vintage condition overall, with bright, clean silver-plated finish and light surface wear consistent with age and careful use, including several small dents near lower portion of cup, visible upon close inspection. No significant distortions or other visible damage. Interior remains clean and well preserved. Enameled badge remains attractive and clearly legible, with only a tiny area of possible enamel loss near upper right edge of flag.  Period wooden plinth is not attached or affixed to trophy base; cup rests neatly on plinth as shown.  Other items in photos not included.
