1940s French Silver-Plated Ice Bucket by SOH | Vintage Art Deco Barware

For the gentleman host … a smart 1940s French silver-plated ice bucket made by Société d’Orfèvrerie Hôtelière (SOH).  Measuring 4-3/8 inches tall, it features a flared rim, fixed side grips, and bands of horizontal ribbing in a sleek Art Deco design. In very good overall condition with a bright polished finish, it would make a stylish addition to a sideboard, drinks table, or home bar.

Founded in the early 1900s, SOH was a leading Paris manufacturer specializing in silver-plated tableware for hotels and restaurants.  Customers included the celebrated Maxim’s de Paris restaurant and the French Navy.  The sleek, streamlined form of our ice bucket is typical of French hotel silver from the Art Deco and postwar period.

Condition notes: Very good vintage condition overall, with bright plate displaying minor surface wear throughout consistent with age and commercial use, including light scratches, small dents, surface marks, and localized plate loss. Most wear visible only on close inspection and does not detract from overall appearance. Interior bottom shows staining and discoloration consistent with use. Underside bears visible marks reading “04,” indicating silver-plating level, “S.O.H. FRANCE,” and company trademark featuring a pelican symbol with “SOH.” Other items in photos not included.
