Antique English Medicine Glass in Fitted Case c. 1885-1905 | Hand-Engraved Apothecary Glass

For the healer … a charming English medicine glass in its original fitted case, standing 3 inches high and dating to around 1885-1905.  The glass is elegantly hand-engraved for tablespoons and teaspoons, and includes individually cut graduation lines that wrap around the glass. Both glass and case are in exceptional antique condition, making this a distinctive gift for a physician, pharmacist, or gentleman collector.

Cased glasses like these were employed to accurately measure liquid medicines; used in the home but also carried as standard kit by doctors or nurses when visiting patients.  Their graduated measures were more reliable than the standard household teaspoon or dessert spoon, whose size and capacity could vary enormously, no small issue when administering remedies.

Condition notes: Excellent antique condition overall. Embossed leatherette-covered case shows only minor edge wear and light surface wear to top and bottom consistent with age, with no visible cracks, dents, or other damage. Interior paper lining remains in exemplary condition, clean and firmly attached. Glass is exceptionally well preserved, with no visible cracks, chips, scratches, clouding, or glazing. Hand-engraved tablespoon and teaspoon markings remain crisp, clear, and fully legible. Other items in photos not included.
