Edwardian Leather Collar Box, 6-Inch Round c. 1910-1925 | Vintage Gentleman’s Accessory

For the man of style … an attractive English leather collar box measuring 6 inches in diameter, dating to around 1910–1925. Constructed in brown leather with stitched edges, leather strap and original buckle, it opens to an orange-colored paperboard interior typical of the period. Cleanly made and beautifully proportioned, it would make a distinctive addition to a gentleman’s desk, dressing room, or bureau, perhaps to store watches, cufflinks or other small personal effects.

Collar boxes of this type were used to store and transport detachable starched collars, which were standard business and formal wear in Britain well into the 1920s. Compact examples like ours were equally suited to the dressing table and overnight travel, while the machine stitching, strap-and-buckle closure, and overall construction point mostly strongly to production prior to 1925, after heavier Victorian fittings had largely disappeared but before detachable collars fell from everyday use.

Condition notes: Excellent antique condition overall with only very minor surface wear to the leather exterior consistent with age and gentle use. Leather remains supple and structurally sound throughout, with all stitching intact and no visible fraying, separation, or repairs noted. Original leather strap and buckle closure remain present, complete, and fully functional, with some age-related cracking visible to the strap around the buckle holes and light corrosion to the metal buckle visible on close inspection. Interior paperboard lining remains clean, bright, and firmly attached, showing minor edge wear from decades of opening and closing, along with light foxing and a few small age-related stains visible to the underside of the lid and base interior. Box retains its original shape with no crushing, distortion, or structural weakness noted. Other items in photos not included.
