Edwardian Leather Collar Box, 7-Inch Round c. 1910-1925 | Vintage Gentleman’s Accessory

For the man of style … a handsome English leather collar box measuring 7 inches in diameter, dating to around 1910-1925.  Constructed in brown leather with stitched edges, a leather retaining strap and original buckle, it opens to a vivid red paper interior and bears what appear to be a former owner’s initials, “HP,” written in elegant script inside the lid. In excellent overall condition, it would make a distinctive addition to a gentleman’s desk, side table, or bureau, perhaps to store watches, cufflinks or other small personal effects.

Leather boxes of this type were used to store and transport detachable starched collars, which were standard business and formal wear in Britain well into the 1920s. Examples like ours were equally suited to the dressing table and travel, while the machine stitching, strap-and-buckle closure, and overall construction point to production before 1925, while detachable collars were still in regular use.

Condition notes: Excellent antique condition overall with only very minor surface wear to leather exterior consistent with age and gentle use. Leather remains structurally sound throughout, with all visible stitching intact with no repairs noted. Original leather strap and buckle closure remain present, complete, and fully functional, with some age-related cracking visible along strap, particularly around buckle holes. Interior red paper lining remains clean, bright, and firmly attached, showing minor edge wear from decades of opening and closing but no visible stains or foxing. Owners initials “HP” appear in pencil inside lid.  Box retains its original shape with no crushing, distortion, or structural weakness noted. Other items in photos not included.
