Elegant English Silver-Plated Wine Coaster by Barker-Ellis | Mid-Century Tableware

For the entertainer … a handsome vintage English silver-plated wine coaster by Barker-Ellis. This elegant piece features a classic gadroon border, a richly patinated hardwood base with concentric rings, and the maker’s mark clearly stamped to the silver-plated rim. In excellent condition, it would make an ideal gift for the entertainer or wine enthusiast.  

Wine coasters are the perfect blend of style and practicality (every home should have at least one) and add a touch of refinement to the table while protecting the dining surface from drips and spills.  At 5-5/8” in diameter, this example easily accommodates most standard bottle sizes including large formats like champagne.  It was made by Barker-Ellis of Birmingham, a respected English silversmith known for elegant silverplate tableware throughout the 20th century.

Condition notes: In excellent condition, with minimal wear for its age.  Marked “Barker Ellis England” and “EPCA” (Electro-Plated Copper Alloy).  Some minor staining to felt base.
