For the whiskey lover … a spectacular 1950s “Cutty Sark” shipping crate from London-based Berry Bros. & Rudd, Britain's oldest wine and spirits merchant. Stamped “Wine Merchants to the Late King George VI,” the crate dates to 1952, after the king’s passing but before his daughter, Queen Elizabeth II, formally renewed the royal warrant later that same year. As a striking display piece, or perhaps to hold firewood or blankets, it would make an ideal addition to a gentleman’s study, home bar or wine cellar.
Founded in 1698, Berry Bros. & Rudd has served discerning patrons for over three centuries and still operates from its original location at No. 3 St James's Street in London. The firm first became a royal purveyor in 1760, and maintains its royal warrant today under King Charles III. In 1923, it introduced Cutty Sark Scotch Whisky, which swiftly became one of the company's most successful products.
