For the traditionalist … a handsome Victorian wooden snuff box with charming inlaid shamrock motif, dating from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. Crafted from richly grained hardwood—likely rosewood or walnut—its curved form fits neatly in the palm and is fitted with original brass hinges and pins. The lid opens and closes smoothly and the overall condition is exceptional, with no visible dents or scratches. The box would make a perfect decorative accent on a gentleman’s desk or dresser, or a distinctive container for cufflinks, rings, or other small treasures.
Snuff boxes were once essential accessories for well-dressed men, and wooden boxes with inlaid details were especially popular during the late Victorian era. The shamrock may suggest Irish heritage or simply a fashionable motif of the time, and the craftsmanship reflects the careful handwork typical of boxes made for daily use but designed to last.
Dimensions: 3-1/4” x 1-3/4” x ” L x 1-1/8” W x 7/8” H
Condition Notes: In excellent overall condition with a smooth finish and no visible scratches, cracks, or dents. Brass hinges and pins are intact and functional, and the lid opens and closes smoothly with a snug fit. See photos for more detail or contact the shop with any questions.
