A remarkable pair of well-loved, leather-covered binoculars, likely of French manufacture from the early 1900s or possibly late 1800s, complete with lined leather case. Still functional, with the wear and patina befitting their age. No discernible maker’s mark, but engraved on the bridge are the words “8 lenses” (?) that demand further research! As a conversation piece or perhaps for the occasional bird-watching, they would make a wonderful addition to a desk or side table.
Dimensions – Case: 5-1/4” x 2-1/2” x 3-3/8” high, Binoculars: 4-1/2” x 3-1/2” high (4-1/4” high when fully extended)
Weight: 1 lb.
Condition Notes: Case is fully intact and closes/fastens without issue. Minor abrasions to leather case, lining has mild staining but no visible rips or tears. Small dents to the bottom rims but no visible scratches or cracks to glass. Center focus knob is cracked but works as intended; binoculars extend and close smoothly. Overall, structurally sound and in very good vintage condition. See photos for more detail or contact us with questions.
