James Dixon 1-Ounce Leather Hip Flask | 3-Inch Pocket Flask from Early 1900s, Model 504A

For the man on the go … a compact gentleman’s flask from the early 1900s by James Dixon & Sons of Sheffield, standing just 3 inches high and holding 1 fluid ounce. It features an upper collar clad in light tan leather with a narrow viewing window, a cork-lined cap that threads cleanly, and a lower section protected by its original Britannia-metal cup. Undeniably charming in stature, the flask’s small size would make it a memorable gift, ready to use but equally at home on a gentleman’s desk or bar tray.

Founded in 1806, James Dixon & Sons became one of England’s leading makers of fine metalwork, producing everything from sporting accessories to silver and electroplate for the home. Alongside their full-size flasks, Dixon offered these miniature versions for hunters, anglers, and travelers who wanted a wee dose of their favorite spirit without the weight of a larger vessel. Compact and durable, they were made to slip easily into a waistcoat or jacket pocket.

Condition notes: Excellent vintage condition throughout with expected signs of age and gentle use. Leather wrap is clean, secure, and well-fitted, with a small surface abrasion to one side visible upon close inspection (see photos) but not affecting fit or stability. Cork-lined cap screws on and off easily with no binding, and cup fits cleanly over the glass body. Britannia-metal cup shows tiny surface marks from handling but no dents, distortion, or sharp edges. Glass flask is clear and free of chips, cracks, or clouding. Base of cup stamped with the James Dixon mark, “504A” (model number), “1 oz,” and “Made in England.” Other items in photos not included.  Flask has been gently waxed and polished.
