Large Vintage English Leather Hip Flask | Mid-Century 6-Ounce Flask in Pigskin, Stainless Steel

For the man in the field … a large-format English mid-century hip flask, standing 5-1/4 inches high and holding a full 6 fluid ounces. Finished in stainless steel and wrapped in its original stitched pigskin cover, the flask dates to around 1948-1965 and features a knurled, cork-lined screw cap with hinged keeper and a softly rounded profile that sits comfortably in the hand. Its quiet, understated design would make a graceful addition to a gentleman’s desk or bar tray, and a refined gift for anyone drawn to traditional field and travel accessories.

Following the Second World War, a number of Sheffield and Birmingham metalworking firms produced stainless steel flasks of this type for outfitters, department stores, and sporting retailers such as Army & Navy Stores, Harrods, and Gamages. Made to be durable, discreet, and practical, these leather-wrapped flasks were favored by sportsmen and travelers who wanted a dependable personal flask that would slip easily into a jacket or field coat pocket.

Condition notes: Very good vintage condition overall with honest, even wear from age and gentle use. Pigskin leather wrap shows minor scuffs, light surface scratches, and small areas of darkened wear consistent with use, with stitching remaining tight and secure throughout. Stainless steel body displays a pale, grey-white surface bloom; this appears as a dull, chalky-looking oxidation on the metal surface, is common to early stainless steel and does not affect structural integrity or function. Bottom is stamped “6 OZ. MADE IN ENGLAND.” Screw cap turns smoothly and threads cleanly. Interior cleanliness has not been verified and flask is sold as a decorative collectible.
