For the traditionalist … an exquisite matching pair of ABP (American Brilliant Period) cut-glass old-fashioned tumblers from 1910-1920, along with an elegant English silver plate muddler, just the right length (5-1/4”) for crushing the requisite sugar cube in the glass.  The two glasses feature a pinwheel design, one of the most iconic motifs of ABP.  Together (perhaps with a bottle of his favorite spirit), the set would make a memorable gift for the whiskey connoisseur or cocktail aficionado.

The American Brilliant Period of cut glass (1876–1917) was a golden age of glassmaking in the US, characterized by deep, intricate patterns that refract light beautifully.  The pinwheel design became popular during the later brilliant period, around 1910 and later.

Dimensions (Glass): 3-3/4” x 2-3/8 (Base) x 3” (Opening)
Dimensions (Muddler): 5-1/4” x 1” x 1”
Weight (Combined): 1 lb. 3.4 oz.

Condition notes: Glasses are in very good antique condition, free of chips or cracks.  Curiously, both have small inch-long abrasions on the rim – virtually invisible to the eye but detectable by touch – possibly a quirk of the original manufacturing process.  Muddler is unmarked and shows only minor wear consistent with age.
