Royal Brierley Gainsborough Crystal Whisky Tumblers (Pair) | Vintage Barware

For the connoisseur… a pair of stunning “Gainsborough” hand cut crystal whisky tumblers by English maker Royal Brierley.  Featuring a distinctive cross design, the Gainsborough pattern is still produced by the company (though no longer as tumblers) and like all Royal Brierley glassware, is meticulously handcrafted from luxury weight crystal by a team of skilled artisans.

These classic “old fashioned” tumblers possess a fine balance in the hand that is typical of lead crystal.  Measuring 3-1/2 inches high, they hold a generous 8 ounces and would make a distinctive and elegant addition to a gentleman’s drinks tray or bar cart.

Royal Brierley is England’s oldest and most celebrated crystal brand, renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship. Established in 1776, the company was formerly known as Stevens and Williams, but changed to Royal Brierley in the 1930s to honor its appointment as Royal British Glassmakers.  As a Royal Warrant holder, the company has supplied fine crystal to every British monarch since 1919.  Royal Brierley tumblers sell for $100 each on a popular replacements site.

Condition notes: In excellent condition with no chips or cracks.  Acid etched “Brierley” on bottom of glass.  Minimal signs of age or use may be present on close inspection, such as faint shelf wear to the base, consistent with careful handling over time.  See photos for more detail or contact the shop with any questions before purchase
