For the outdoorsman … a sleek set of four Danish mid-century stainless steel stirrup cups by Ria, housed in their original leather case. Stirrup cups (containing an alcoholic drink) were traditionally offered to horsemen “in the stirrups” before they ride out, perhaps with the hunt. At just 1-3/4” high, our compact set fits easily in a coat pocket or knapsack and is ideal for a “wee nip” of your favorite spirit when the mood strikes, whether on a camping trip or a weekend at the cabin. Ria was a popular Danish brand in the 1950s-1960s and many of their stainless wares were exported to the UK, where this set was sourced. Each of our cups is stamped “RIA DENMARK STAINLESS,” and while the case itself is unmarked, the leather (likely cowhide) is typical of English-made examples from the same period, and so was likely manufactured in the UK.

Condition notes: Excellent vintage condition overall. Leather case is clean and well-preserved, with only minor surface scratches to the cover and sides consistent with gentle use and age. Snap closure is fully functional and fastens securely. All four cups are in virtually pristine condition, with no dents, tarnish, or visible wear. Each is marked “RIA DENMARK STAINLESS” on the base; markings are mostly crisp, with some light rubbing from use over time.
