Vintage 1930s English Condiment Set by AE Poston | Original Box with Mustard Pot, Salt & Pepper Shakers

For the entertainer … a vintage 1930s English condiment set by A.E. Poston of Dowgate Hill, London, complete with mustard pot, salt shaker, pepper shaker, and the original chromium-plated mustard spoon, all presented in the maker’s original box with its surviving tissue. The glass bodies are all clean and chip-free, and the overall condition is far better than is usually seen for sets from this era, which rarely remain intact.  The vintage box and superb condition make this set an intriguing gift idea for the gentleman host.

A.E. Poston & Co. Ltd. was a well-known firm of cutlers who supplied electro-plated tableware and “fancy goods” to discerning customers from the early 1900s through the post-war years. Their boxed gift sets were extremely popular in the 1930s and 1940s, combining solid workmanship with practical household items that were neatly finished and built to last.

Condition notes: Excellent vintage condition overall. Glass bodies are clean, clear, and free of chips, cracks, clouding, or staining. Salt and pepper shaker caps retain bright, even plating with only minimal surface marks from age and handling. Mustard pot lid shows light, visible surface wear to the plating consistent with normal use, but has no dents, warping, or structural issues. Hinge opens and closes smoothly. Original mustard spoon is stamped “MADE IN ENGLAND” and “CHROMIUM PLATE STAINLESS,” and is clean with no corrosion or pitting. Other items in photos not included.
