Vintage 1948 Silver-Plated Golf Trophy | Royal Canadian Naval Golf Association

For the sportsman … a handsome silver-plated golf trophy dated 1948 and presented by the Royal Canadian Navy Golf Association. Measuring 5-1/2 inches tall and mounted on a black acrylic plinth, it features twin scroll handles and is engraved “RCNGA / 6th Flight / 1948.” In very good overall condition, with a bright polished finish, it would make a distinctive addition to a gentleman’s side table, library shelf, or home bar.

The Royal Canadian Navy Golf Association organized competitions for naval personnel in the Victoria and Esquimalt area, home of Canada’s Pacific naval base. It hosted many of its tournaments at Gorge Vale Golf Club in Victoria, including the Navy Open.  Other documented RCNGA events included inter-ship competitions, monthly tournaments, and an annual Christmas Turkey Tournament.

Condition notes: Very good vintage condition overall, with only minor wear to silver plate consistent with age and careful handling. Exterior surfaces retain a bright polished finish, with no significant dents or distortion noted. Interior bowl shows age-related wear, including areas of tarnish and surface discoloration. Black acrylic plinth remains in excellent condition, with no notable chips or cracks. Trophy remains securely mounted to plinth. Other items in photos not included.
