Vintage 50 Star American Flag, 34 x 55 Inches | Embroidered Cotton Flag c. 1960-1980

For the patriot … a vintage 50-star American flag measuring 34 x 55 inches, dating to circa 1960-1980, sewn from heavy cotton bunting with individually embroidered stars and machine-stitched red and white stripes throughout. The hoist edge is finished with a reinforced canvas header and brass grommets, consistent with mid-century U.S.-made examples. Clean, bright, and well-constructed, with light, even fading on one side from prior use, it would make a striking display piece mounted on the wall of a gentleman’s study or den.

Embroidered cotton flags were the standard in this era, before printed nylon and polyester versions became more common.  These earlier flags offer heavier weight fabric and more dimensional star fields than their later counterparts. Our example retains strong color across most of the field, tight machine stitching, and no tears or losses, showing honest signs of prior use but remaining in excellent vintage condition overall.

Condition notes: Excellent vintage condition overall with strong color across most of the red, white, and blue cotton bunting. One side of the flag shows localized, even sun-fading to portions of the blue canton and adjacent red stripes from prior display; the opposite side retains deeper, more uniform color. Individually embroidered stars remain securely applied with no lifting or separation, and all red and white stripes are firmly joined with consistent machine stitching throughout. Canvas header is intact and firmly stitched, with two brass grommets intact and firmly in place.  One small, faint stain is present on a white stripe near the hoist, visible only on close inspection. Fabric is free of tears, holes, or repairs. Flag shows signs of prior use but remains structurally sound. Other items in photos not included.
