For the fisherman … a charming 3-inch Nottingham-style wood and brass fishing reel from the early 1900s. Crafted from finely turned hardwood and in excellent condition, featuring brass footing and back plate, and ebonite handles on brass mounts. A lovely patina and rich varnish make this ideal for displaying on a favorite desk or side table, as coastal décor, or as a special gift for the angler or boating enthusiast.
Nottingham-style reels, so called because they were built in or around Nottingham, England, are typically light, free-running, wooden reels designed for river fishing. They resemble fly reels, and some were used for fly fishing, but the majority were used for bait fishing.
Dimensions: Spool: 3” diameter x 1-7/8”, Footing 2-3/8”

Condition Notes: Very minor indentations and scratches under varnish, consistent with age and use. Spool runs freely (no on-off ratchet clicker) but recommended for decorative use only. Overall in excellent antique condition. See photos for more detail or contact shop with questions.
