For the scotch drinker … a wonderful pair of cut-glass whisky tumblers in the Wellington pattern, possibly from 1960-1980. Marked "Thos Webb England.” A good whisky needs a proper glass! These are a modest size (4 ounces) – more than enough for “a wee dram” – and fit beautifully in the hand. Both are in excellent condition with no visible marks or scratches and have a lovely ring to them when tapped. Wellington is one of Webb’s oldest patterns, one that takes its design cues from the Victorian era. Would make a special gift, perhaps paired with a bottle of your man’s favorite scotch.
Thomas Webb & Sons was founded in 1837 near Stourbridge, England. The company was known as the "Crystal King of England” and were awarded a Grand Prix at the 1889 Paris Exposition.
Those in the know say that single malt whisky is typically enjoyed in a smaller glass to allow for more gradual aeration and so the drinker can enjoy the development of the spirit with a “slower exchange.” So there you are.
Dimensions: 2-1/2” across, 2-7/8” high
