Vintage P910 Block Plane c. 1945-1955 | British Post-War Metal Woodworking Tool

For the craftsman … a handsome post-war British block plane, pattern P910, dating to around 1945–1955 and measuring 6-3/4 inches in length.  Cast in solid iron with a clean, even surface and fitted with its original iron, this is a well-proportioned, weighty little plane with a time-earned patina that reflects its life as a genuine workshop tool.  Its compact size and visual presence make it an ideal display piece for a gentleman’s desk or library shelf.

Unbranded British block planes like this were produced in the Sheffield area during the post-war period, often sold through ironmongers or distributors.  Designed for everyday bench work, they were used by joiners and cabinetmakers for trimming end grain, fitting small components, and fine adjustments where a full bench plane would be cumbersome. Their straightforward, utilitarian design reflects the practical realities of British toolmaking in the years immediately following WWII.

Condition notes: Excellent vintage condition overall. Cast-iron body shows light, even surface wear consistent with age and use, with minimal corrosion and no structural issues noted. Adjustment dial turns smoothly and holds iron in position; iron is reasonably sharp and removable, though has not been sharpened or tested in use. Plane has been lightly cleaned and waxed.
